International students difficulties in Canada

International students difficulties in Canada Canada (Ontario) is known for admitting high number of international students due to pursue post secondary education. These students often face various problems which include: mastering languages especially English.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on International student’s difficulties in Canada specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This is in its spoken and written form. Adjusting to dissimilar classrooms that pursue diverse strategies of learning, asking for assistance, expressing ideologies and opinions illuminate the difficulties faced by such students. The government is formulating a plan aimed at improving different aspects of the economy especially through improving the education standards in the region (McGuinty, 2010). The significance of the conducted research linking it with the Ontario plan A research based on tribulations facing postsecondary students points out the actual problems that internat ional students faces. This study is utilized as a baseline to the enhancement of post secondary edification as proposed in the Open Ontario scheme. The government’s open Ontario scheme targets 70% amplification in postsecondary edification beginning with a 20,000 raise in spaces this year for local and global students (McGuinty, 2010). Identifying and possibly solving the problem faced by international students will attract more international students to register for the spaces created. This is especially the case upon implementation of the open Ontario scheme. The project also aims at promoting Ontario colleges, universities and any other postsecondary education institutions within the region. This can be spiced up by solving the already identified troubles on the conducted research. This also extends to using the solved problems as a marketing strategy for promotion and marketing postsecondary learning institutions present in the region to a global population (McGuinty, 20 10). Consequently, an increase in international student enrollment will correspond to an increase in revenues. This will in turn improve Ontario’s and Canadian economy in the long run. The government plans to work with experts in instructive, commerce and training field so as to develop the five-year Ontario scheme. This is with aim of improving the quality universities and colleges (McGuinty, 2010). Technically, this cannot be effectively achieved without addressing the problems faced by local and worldwide student especially when learning is concerned.Advertising Looking for research paper on education? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More A research on the problems faced by the students whether local or international is of great importance since action will be taken based on the identified problems; furthermore, this can avoid deviations from processes that concentrate on addressing problems. In the event that t he government creates an online Ontario institution, it is best for them to identify the problems that students may face while studying online. A research on the problems likely to be encountered will assist the government in creating an effective online Ontario institute that addresses the emerging and existing problems of the students. The government’s Ontario scheme aims at creating more employment opportunities that require talented and skilled tradespersons with quality scholastic qualifications. It is my opinion that they must consider working on the problems facing both the international student and local students. This is for quality education to be achieved since they are the future employers and employees of Ontario. Pointed out recommendations and directions for the future Research is considered as not only a professional method but also educative way of identifying, understanding and further solving a problem. It will be of great importance to carry out a research before planning or implementing any project. It is imperative to acknowledge that education as an aspect of economic growth can be achieved through research (McGuinty, 2010). This not only addresses the problems facing international students but also other supporting tenets and processes of education. This will greatly help in understanding the problems faced by the education sector from a summative dimension. It is not forgotten that improvements on research findings should be carried out on individual aspects of education. This in turn increases the quality and services of education as a whole. I strongly recommend that the government should resourcefully invest on research as a tool towards the improvement of varied aspects of the economy. Supporting research on education or any aspect of economy either financially or in any other form will immensely improve the understanding of challenges faced by different sectors in various capacities. Financial support will also lead to trem endous improvement in the quality of research consequently, leading to successful projects aimed at improving aspects of the economy and not necessarily education (McGuinty, 2010).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on International student’s difficulties in Canada specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More I would conclude this by stressing that research is vital in solving any problem inherent or new in society. I highly recommend that the government should carry out different types of research before investing on any economic sector. This is in a bid to establish which exact areas are of interest that requires reforms. Education is fundamental to any economic success (McGuinty, 2010). In light of this fact, research should be done on every aspect of education in order to address the key issues which when improved a better education strategy will be formulated. I further reinstate on the importance of the quality of this approach as it enhances growth and success in Ontario. Reference McGuinty, D. (2010). Open Ontario, a five year economic plan. Healthy Foods Versus Unhealthy Foods Lesson Plan

Healthy Foods Versus Unhealthy Foods Lesson Plan An important component in staying healthy is knowing which foods are goods for you and which ones are not. Students will enjoy learning about this because its one thing that they know a little bit about. Here is a healthy versus unhealthy food  lesson plan for students in grades K-3. Use this in conjunction with your thematic unit on nutrition. Healthy vs. Unhealthy Foods Lesson Plan Help students to understand foods role in their bodies by completing the following steps. Invite students to share the types of foods they eat on a daily basis.Discuss why they need to eat and what food does for our bodies.Compare our bodies to machines and how in order to work we need the fuel of food.Ask students what would happen to them if they did not eat. Talk about how they would feel cranky, tired, would have no energy to play, etc. Healthy Eating Tips The following healthy eating tips are provided to help you lead this lesson on nutrition. Snack on fruits, vegetables, unbuttered popcorn, and rice cakes.Drink plenty of water.Eat vegetables with lunch and dinner.Limit the amount of fatty, salty foods like potato chips and french fries.Drink low-fat milk, and eat low-fat yogurt and cheese.Enjoy garden salads often.Encourage your family and friends to eat healthy with you. Activity For this activity, students will determine what foods are healthy or unhealthy. Materials YarnTrash bag Direct Instruction Follow these steps to complete the nutrition lesson plan. Healthy foods are full of nutrients that our bodies need. Challenge students to come up with a list of healthy foods and snacks and write this list on the front board under the title Healthy Foods. If students name a food that is not considered healthy such as french fries, list that food item under the list Unhealthy Foods.Next, ask students to list foods that they consider unhealthy. Foods that are processed such as bologna and pizza should be listed in this category.A good way to visually show students healthy vs unhealthy is to hold up a ball of yarn and tell students that the yarn represents nutrients that are in the healthy foods that they eat. Then hold up a bag of trash and tell students that the trash represents the sugar, fat, and additives that are in the unhealthy foods that they eat. Talk about how unhealthy foods do very little for their health and how healthy foods help fuel their body.Once your list is complete, discuss why they foods listed are considered healthy or unhealthy. Students may say the healthy foods provide our bodies with fuel and vitamins that give our bodies energy. The unhealthy foods may make us sick, tired, or cranky. Extension Activity To check for understanding, ask students if anyone has ever been to a junkyard. If someone has asked them what kinds of things they saw there. Show the other students pictures of a junkyard and talk about how the items in the junkyard are things people cant use anymore. Compare the junkyard to junk food. Talk about how the unhealthy foods that they eat are full of ingredients that our bodies cant use. Junk food is full of fat and sugar that make us overweight and sometimes sick. Remind students to eat healthily and limit or avoid junk food. Closure To make sure students really grasp the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods, challenge students to draw and label five healthy and five unhealthy foods.

The USEC Inc Project Examination Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words

The USEC Inc Project Examination - Essay Example The key value driver of the NPV is the demand for Separate Work Units (SWU). It has been assumed by USEC that there will be 100% demand which will enable the ACP to operate at 100% production capacity. The sensitivity analysis shows that for every 1% decrease in demand, the NPV comes down by 2.74%. It is therefore recommended that Rivanna capital should take a long position in the project. This is because the stock price, after considering the ACP project, is undervalued by a massive 49.53% and Rivanna’s rule is to go long on any stock that is undervalued by 10% or more. 2. MAIN REPORT 2.1 The pursuit of ACP by USEC USEC is pursuing ACP because it will give it an edge technologically and cost-wise over its competitors. The cost efficiencies realised from ACP will make it the lowest cost producer in the uranium enrichment industry. The existing uranium enrichment process of USEC at the Paducah plant uses the gas diffusion process. This process requires intensive electricity pow er for operating a series of enormous industrial compressors. USEC has kept the cost of this electricity constant through a long term electricity contract. However, this contract will expire soon. After the expiry of this contract, the cost of production will rise and this will have a very negative impact on the profit margins of USEC. Consequently, USEC is very keen on pursuing the American Centrifuge project. The technology used in the centrifuge project will cut down the electricity consumption in the enrichment process by a whopping 95%.This would bring down the overall enrichment costs by 50%. The low costs mean higher profit margins for USEC. ACP will also double the scale of USEC and has the potential to dramatically improve the competitive position of USEC. 2.2... Environmental and Corporation Social Responsibility Assignment

Environmental and Corporation Social Responsibility - Assignment Example The efficiency of production range between 50 and 60 percent; this translates to only to the preferred replacement technology of energy production. From the same graph, it should be noted that the higher the emission of biofuel byproducts into the atmosphere, the higher the ionization rate (Werther and Chandler, 2011). Additionally, the same biofuel products usually react with the free hydrogen gas and radicals in the atmosphere leading to acidic atmosphere. From the graphs, it is also apparent that the higher the energy generation form the biofuel the higher the chances of formation of the acidic atmosphere. The effects of the use of biofuel are stronger when the emission is directed to the air other than water (Mullerat and Brennan, 2011). In fact, it should be noted that the direct use of these gases is intense in air emission than water since the water emissions usually result in accidents. Nonetheless, both cases are never environmental friendly. Finally, it should be noted that eutrophication is also affected by increased emission and use of biofuel into the environment. Charts c and d indicate that the high the electrici ty generation the high the emission; thus, the higher the global warming thereby affecting the normal ecosystem functionalities (Kao, 2010). Hence, it is worth noting that electricity generation among the use of other energy sources contributes to the efficiency of the environment in different ways. All the charts above indicate the higher or the massive use of biofuels in the United States, the higher the effects on Eutrophication, Acidification, and Global Mass Warming; hence, the corporates should minimize such energy use to minimize the effects on the same. All these graphs and their subsequent analyses relate to the energy regulation and generation of barley.

Benziger Family Winery Essay Example for Free

Benziger Family Winery Essay In the case of the Benziger Family Winery, is being faced with the decision of whether or not Chris Benziger should invest in an ISO 14000 certification. The answer is yes, he should pursue the certification in an attempt to strengthen his knowledge that his company already has about being environmentally friendly. This will strengthen his position on the market as a leader in wine industry. In pursuing the certification, he will also educate other growers on the importance of a strong environmental management system. This will make them want to take those same steps to help promote their business to be more like him. By getting the ISO this will further support his environmental policy that he strongly applies to the daily routines for helping the company conserve resources and prevent pollution. He is already certified by the Sonoma County Green Business Program (SCGBP) and is in full environmental compliance. As part of this compliance, the winery has saved over 2 million gallons of water per year through recycling all wastewater. They reduced solid wastes as well as energy cost due to the construction of a wine cave built in the hillside which maintained temperature cool enough to prevent them from using electricity to cool. The Gap Analysis is the formal study behind what the business is currently doing and where they want to be in the future. This means the need for continuous improvement is necessary in promoting the best possible outcomes for the company goals. The gap analysis identifies the gaps from what the company is doing now to what they would be doing should they utilize additional resources to help improve the company’s outputs. By documenting what they have done in the past, this will show what other requirements are necessary to be put in place in an attempt to maximize the company’s capabilities. This may involve benchmarking as well. In this case the winery currently has annual revenues of about 15 million. They are striving to launch a new brand, Tribute that would be selling in the $50-$60 range at about 4000 cases per year. They would also like their exports to increase from about 10% of sales to 20%. For Benziger, this analysis can be done at an operational level since all of his employees are well-trained on the company’s environmentally friendly efforts and are shared with guests of the winery to promote the business. This is an opportunity for Benziger to bring his reputation to a high point and work towards his goal for being a world-class leader in the wine industry. Since the U.S. market is very competitive this would make him stand out since very few U.S. wineries have their ISO 14000 certification. He could enter more markets that its consumers are sensitive to environmental products and continue expanding his business to other countries. It is stated that becoming certified with the ISO 14000 is expensive. This is an investment that will pay for itself in the future. There will be revenue increases by becoming more attractive to consumers who support the environmentally safe production process. The ISO 14000 is an attempt to develop a widely accepted, uniform approach to certify that Benziger’s EMS is the best way to run a business for long term savings and making a positive contribution to the environment. In exhibit 40.4 it shows the EMS Gap Analysis and explains what policies and procedures the Benziger may or may not have in place. It explains that he does have an environmental policy in place and that he has conducted an analysis of the impact that it has on the environment. When it comes to legal requirements, they do not have a procedure in place. This is the responsibility of the Ranch manager and it has not been done yet. He has covered all of his objectives and has established a well-written program to achieve those objectives. He has very good structured within the winery and has delegated responsibilities to each of the family members as well as their other employees. However no roles have been defined and documented yet. It is also noted that there is need for additional training on EMS aspects. The Ranch manager seems to need assistance with organization of training and documentation as well. Although they are on the right track he needs to ensure that they are taking all the necessary steps to continue the company professionally and in an organized fashion. Once the ranch manager has assigned specific roles and tasks to certain team members it will not be all on him to keep the EMS running properly it will become a part of the way they do business. The last part of the Exhibit 40.4 shows some things that they need to improve on. There is no documentation for anything the company does. He needs to be able to show records of his work to be environmentally sensitive. Several of the drafts have been started but none have been completed. It also states that there needs to be a regular review ensuring that the EMS is suitable and effective. Exhibit 40.5 is the Benziger Family Winery Environmental Policy. In comparison to Exhibit 40.4, the policy states the steps they are willing to take to make sure the winery is an environmentally safe and sustainable business. However, when each of the bullets are broken down into a series of questions as they are in Exhibit 40.4, they are not satisfying all of their own expectations. It seems as though they have a few small improvements to make that seem as though are they are not too time consuming. Once each of these steps has been achieved, they are well on their way to being more successful and more organized. If the proper steps are taken to correct the small issues on-hand, the next step for the Benziger Winery is to pursue the ISO 14000 certification. This will set the bar for how other wineries should be run and help the company become one of the top U.S. wine distributors.

Comparing the Artwork of Dr. Seuss and Rube Goldberg Essay -- Compare

Comparing the Artwork of Dr. Seuss to the Artwork of Rube Goldberg Dr. Seuss has an interesting background that is often overlooked. Many fans do not know that the beloved children’s book author actually began his career drawing cartoons for magazines and advertisements (â€Å"The Advertising Artwork of Dr. Seuss†). In many of his advertisements and children’s books he has amazing elaborate machines that complete different tasks. This aspect of his artwork has many similarities to another famous cartoonist, Rube Goldberg. In this essay I will be comparing the artwork of Dr. Seuss to the artwork of Rube Goldberg. For those who are not familiar with Rube Goldberg here is a very brief background on the famous cartoonist. Rube Goldberg had many talents; he was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, a sculptor and an author (â€Å"Rube Goldberg Biography†). Born in San Francisco in 1883 his father had big plans for Rube to become an engineer. Rube became an engineer only to work as one for a short time. He had other plans; plans to become an artist. Eventually Rube got a job in New York drawing cartoons for the Evening Mail. Rube became a founding member of the National Cartoonist Society. He was a successful political cartoonist and a Pulitzer Prize winner. Rube Goldberg is best known for his â€Å"Inventions† cartoons. Goldberg’s inventions show wacky, complex ways to complete somewhat meaningless tasks much like Seuss’s â€Å"inventions† in many of his books. A good comparison of the way that Goldberg may have influenced Dr. Seuss can be seen in Seuss’s famous book, The Cat in the Hat. On page fifty-six we see the Cat’s great machine that he uses to pick up his messes. The Cat shows a very complex way of picking up his â€Å"playthings†. The wonder... ...ad it is extremely easy to see Goldberg’s influence on Seuss. Seuss created a very complex machine for the simple task of applying make-up. Other examples of Seuss’s inventions exist in some of his children’s books. These books include: The Cat in the Hat, The Butter Battle Book, and The Sneeches. There are probably many more; it seems that with every turn of a page one can find some sort of wacky Seuss invention. Print Media Advertising: Impacts on Popular Culture and Cultural Values Essay

Print media advertising impacts consumerism and cultural values in many ways. Newspapers and various magazines have dominated the presence of print media in the development of American popular culture. Print media also propagates social trends that affect the human body, consumerism and social responsibility either directly or indirectly. For the most part, print media has given rise to both positive and negative consequences on the human perception towards culture. Fashion magazines have been major factors in propagating the human image and the latest fashion trends, thereby dictating both the public awareness and the acceptable image in the society. By repeatedly publishing specific images that are given positive descriptions, magazines from health and fashion to music tend to take control of American popular culture. On the other hand, newspapers circulate information to the general public. That being said, the news stories and other articles published by newspapers are absorbed into the public’s awareness whether or not they approve of the content of these articles. In effect, the stories that newspapers publish and newspapers themselves contribute to the development of popular culture in America. For instance, the recent news stories about Sarah Palin—the Republican Vice-presidential candidate for the 2008 national elections—portraying her as the â€Å"attack dog† of the Grand Old Party against the Democratic presidential nominee has made her a part of American popular culture in just a short span of time. There have been at least three trends propagated by the print media affecting the development of American popular culture. First, there was a time when fashion magazines published images of skinny models, thereby creating the public impression that to be thin is to be â€Å"in† and â€Å"acceptable†. In effect, my perception about being healthy and physically appealing at the same time was caught in a direct conflict against the trends propagated by these fashion magazines. It is in my belief that any person regardless of body frame or size of hips and waist can have a healthy lifestyle that is visually attractive without resorting to methods that make the body ultra skinny. Another trend propagated by the print media is the image of top-performing athletes wearing specific brands of sporting apparels, as if signifying that the potential of the individual to perform at his best in sports depends on the shoes the athlete is wearing, for instance. This trend creates an illusion that promotes consumerism, tempting the buying public to identify strongly with these sporting goods and, in a way, depending on them to boost their athletic performance or to simply enhance their status in the society. I think that this trend causes harm to the American society because it feeds the capitalist motives of companies, thereby giving less consideration for the social responsibilities of these companies. Lastly, the print media has also propagated the trend of showing either bias or favor to certain political ideologies. While the freedom of expression is guaranteed by the American Constitution, it has responsibilities attached to it. Thus, the print media should avoid showing political bias or favoritism since either of these two attitudes can unfairly influence public opinion. I think the print media should be politically neutral, taking no political side and publishing political stories from all political angles possibly involved. I also think that doing so is a part of the social responsibility of the print media outlets, especially newspapers, since the articles that they publish and circulate can greatly shape American popular culture.

Using the Latin Supine for Verbal Nouns

Using the Latin Supine for Verbal Nouns The supine is a Latin verbal noun. Since it is a noun it has a declension, but it only appears in the accusative and ablative singular. To decline the supine, use the fourth declension. Since you only need the accusative and ablative singular, the only endings you use are -um and -u. The tricky part, if you dont have a dictionary, is figuring out the stem to which to add the -um (used for purpose with verbs of motion; translated like an infinitive) or -u (used with adjectives and sometimes verbs). This depends on the conjugation to which the verb belongs. If you have a dictionary, the fourth principal part is usually the supine, but with an  us ending. To Form  the Supine for Verbs in the 1st conjugation - remove ending but keep thematic vowel (a); add a -t- and then add the 4th declension endings (either -um or -u), as in paratum.2nd conjugation - remove ending and thematic vowel (e); add -it- and then add the 4th declension endings (either -um or -u), as in habitum3rd conjugation, you must deal with irregularities. The supine of mittere is missum, but the supine of capere is captum. Although this may not be entirely predictable, the supine is usually used as the fourth principal part in the dictionary entry for the verb, so it should be familiar.4th conjugation - remove ending but keep thematic vowel (i); add a -t- and then add the 4th declension endings (either -um or -u), as in auditum. Examples of the Supine Venerunt visum they came to see.Mirabile dictu wondrous to say. Can you figure out why you would probably not use the supine to say they walk to work using  4th declension nouns?
